Historic city of Dokkum
The famous city of Dokkum, where Boniface met his Waterloo in 754. In 1298, this former trading city was the fourth place to be granted Frisian city rights.
Much of the rich history is still visible today. With no fewer than 140 national monuments, the historic city center still stands proudly. This is reflected in the beautiful ramparts and the old factory where the authentic Beerenburg originates.
