Historic city of Dokkum

 

The famous city of Dokkum, where Boniface found his waterloo in 754. In 1298 this former trading city was the fourth place to receive the Frisian city rights. A lot can still be seen of the rich history today. With no fewer than 140 national monuments, the historic city center still stands proudly. This is reflected in the beautiful strongholds and the old factory where the real Beerenburg comes from.
